This toolkit has been designed a bit like a big old public swimming pool - some people like to paddle, some are still learning and others will methodically swim laps all day. This toolkit has sections for people who are just starting out, needing to learn how it all works and - since not everyone learns well on their own - there's information for trainers to help them teach groups of people. Space has also been made for those who just want to get in, get what they need and get out again without a lot of fuss.
To make it easier for all these users, the toolkit has been divided into different sections:
This section is for new workers, taking them step by step through some essential information they need to know before they begin. It has the most basic information and is designed to help organisations give this essential information to new workers and volunteers before they begin.
These are there to find what you want as easily as possible. If you want to work through it systematically, we've grouped things into sections and arranged things in an order we hope will help. We've even made 'cheat sheets' - printable summaries that have all the essentials usually on one easy-to-read page. Information kits are grouped into:
Organisational information - about how the organisation works, money management and administrative issues, policies to keep it legal and make the organisation run smoothly and sample policies and forms to make all this as easy as possible.
Staffing information - about managing staff and volunteers, their expectations, behaviour and organising training- again, with lots of sample forms and policies to make this as easy as possible.
Managing activities - including information on planning events, programs and activities and networking.
This page is designed for those who have already explored the toolkit and just want to find one of the forms or factsheets without wading through all the information it contains.
If you just want to duck in, get what you need and get out again, contents lists have been provided on most pages that should help you find what you need as quickly as possible and with a few icons- little pictures- along the way to help you zoom in on what you need.
Links/ further reading- There's only so much you can fit in one toolkit. And there's only so much most people want to know. If you want to know even more than a section of this toolkit will tell you, follow some of these links on the web for up-to-date web information, mostly from Australian sites.
